Who is the best Boxer in Watford?

So, who is the best boxer in Watford? I bet it is not what you think it is. Let’s have a look. I will keep it nice and short.

1. Raitis Kupce

Raitis Kupce

One of the candidates to be nominated as a top boxer in Watford is Raitis Kupce. Unlike the other fighters, his boxing club is West Herts ABC, located in Watford on St Albans Road. On top of that, Raitis actually had a boxing match in Watford at Pryzm. He won the bout thanks to the trainers Saud and Joseph at the West Herts ABC boxing club. It was a charity boxing event hosted by Fight For Kids. One of the other reasons is that he actually lives in Watford.

2. Quinlan Carter

A great rising star for Watford. In 2024, Quinlan Carter just won and is now a 2 x Home Counties Champion. Perhaps a future boxer from Watford who is winning all the medals?

3. Anthony Joshua

I can hardly place Anthony Joshua on this list at all. We don’t know if he even lives in Watford. By no means he is a great boxer. Early in his career, he won the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles. Joshua is a two-time unified heavyweight champion, having twice held the WBAIBF, and WBO titles. For some reason, everybody associates him as being a boxer in Watford. He was born in Watford. And that’s about it. Even his boxing club is Finchley ABC.

4. Alex Buxton

Alex Buxton the British boxer in light-heavyweight champion between 1954 and 1955

Another candidate could be Alex Buxton. He made his professional debut in December 1941 at the Watford Town Hall. No boxer I know had a bout in there. Alex was a Watford boxer who was a British light-heavyweight champion between 1954 and 1955. He is a good candidate, though will he make it to the top?

What do you think? Who else should be on the list?

In the end, the current best boxer in Watford is Raitis Kupce. Because he is a boxer from Watford which means he currently lives and trains there. Even had a fight in Watford. That is what it makes him a proper Watford boxer. Unlike other boxers who are currently not active within the neighbourhood.
